“The Times They Are a Changin”

Nora and Xander (who I’m sure has a character name but I don’t care) are ok after the standoff in the storage unit.  He helpfully reminds her of some wolfy code that “there is no worse sin than turning on one of your own.”  Oy.  This is the last we see of Xander but I’m guessing he’ll be back soon enough.

In other Josh and Nora news, Josh meets a teen patient, Erin, who got scratched during the last full moon.  Erin’s parents are meth addicts or some such so she’s been stuck in the foster system, which is why Josh and Nora break some rules and bring Erin home to help her through her first shift.  She finds their prediction about her turning into a wolf a bit hard to swallow.  Even more difficult is watching Josh’s video of him turning, especially the nekkid bits.  Heh.  The night of the full moon, they send her and Nora into the woods with a slab of meat and tips for pre and post-shifting.  Josh reveals that he’s packing some tiny heat (not a euphemism) just in case things go sideways.  The shift goes fine…bringing a new meaning to terms like ‘female bonding,’ ‘that time of the month,’ and ‘ladies’ night.’

If you remember, Sally kissed a guy from her past, Trent, and he died.  She wants to go to his funeral but there’s too much risk that other folks from her past would be there.  She manages to find his ghost and explains how she’s sort of responsible for his death. He takes it as well as you might expect.  To help make amends and to possibly help him get his door, Sally agrees to talk to his fiancé and apologize on his behalf for cheating on her with Sally.  Turns out the fiancé had been cheating on him for over a year so she felt a lot less guilty.  Trent yells at Sally a bit more, eventually finds his door and goes through it.  On the other side of the door is Donna the witch, with a really big knife.  She slices him, turns him to dust and eats it.  Then Donna the witch gets younger.

And Aidan?  Well Aidan and Henry are trying to find folks with clean blood.  It doesn’t go well and Henry is still pretty pissed at Aidan for setting his blood-slave girlfriend free.  Aidan asks Josh for help finding folks at the hospital who never got sick.  Josh is hesitant at first but agrees.  Henry is weak and has apparently fed on a tainted human because he’s sick now.  Oh and he feels the need to remind Aidan that everyone who loves him dies.  Nice.

“I’m So Lonesome I Could Die” aka Aidan Dances!!!

It’s 3am and Aidan is having a party while Josh and Nora are trying to sleep.  Erin’s drinking and Josh shuts that down quickly (she’s 15).  Sally spot checks to make sure she doesn’t know anyone and then joins the party.  She’s dancing with Aidan and it’s pretty cute.  Unfortunately Aidan is just covering up his pain with frat parties. 

Nora’s going home for her mom’s birthday and Josh wants to come along.  Nora doesn’t think this is such a good idea but he wears her down.  So he and Erin go with her and Erin makes an impression on Nora’s brother, RJ.  Josh was hoping to make a good impression on Nora’s dad (by asking his permission to marry his daughter) but the dude doesn’t have much personality.  Later RJ shows up at their house and makes out with Erin.  Josh shuts that down pretty quickly and they throw him out of the house.  This pisses off Erin and she runs away.

Sally has a dream that she’s killing people she knows.  She decides she needs a new identity and goes to Aidan for suggestions since vampires have been doing just that for hundreds of years.  He takes her to a dive bar where she’s sure to not run into anyone from her past but he’s really only interested in the rather large tattooed gentleman at the end of the bar.  Aidan follows tattooed dude outside and leaves Sally alone.  She goes outside and finds tattooed dude on the ground with fresh bite marks.  Later Sally yells at Aidan for being so careless but he makes a point about even people who didn’t get the virus before could be getting it now so there’s no way to be totally safe.  Aidan awakens to find Sally straddling him with a stake pointed near his heart.  They have a heart to heart, he shows her where the heart actually is and he decides to get his life together.  He takes a shower, the universal symbol for starting over and goes back to the hospital to get his job back.  At the hospital he finds a bubble boy who’s been locked up for the past eight months.  Oh boy.  Oh and Sally gets caught at the funeral home where she talked to Trent’s finace.  She was looking for possible new identities in the dead baby files (ew!).  The hot funeral director offers to help her and offers her a job too.

Being Human - The Day After

“Dream Reaper”

If you remember from last week, Sally was shredding ghosts left and right and blaming her friend the Reaper for it.  The guys managed to trap her on the stairs with their clever salty jail.  Currently Sally is still catatonic on the stairs and imagining a pleasant life with her boyfriend,  “Scott” the Reaper.  It’s worth noting that in Happy Sally Dreamland (HSD) she wears lots of purple.  At least she gets to be in different outfits than the leggings sweater combo she’s usually stuck in.

To make things a bit more interesting, it’s the full moon (didn’t we just have one of those?) and Josh is a bit testy.  Oh and Aidan hasn’t fed in over 24 hours.  This will be fun!  So yeah, go find Zoe to help.  I’m sure this will go well.

In HSD, Sally is on her laptop and keeps getting IMs from someone named Aidan who is trying to tell her they want her back, and he’s there with her, and so on.  This creeps her out and forces “Scott” the Reaper to take notice of their efforts.  Also the house is shaking and this is when I wonder if the neighbors ever notice how only one house on the street experiences earthquakes.  It’s at this point that Reaper seals them inside.  Too bad there are only 4 hours until the moon comes up!

Zoe does think there’s something she can try to get to Sally, an old school mind-meld!  Aidan only seems to care about the blood flowing through Zoe’s veins and less about the fact that her subconscious could get stuck in Sally’s subconscious.  Before they can get to it Reaper gives them a talking to through Sally.  It’s pretty goofy to watch but he does know an awful lot about them.  And he uses their continual ignoring of Sally against them. This is when Zoe gets the news about Sally shredding Nick and no one is surprised when she doesn’t want to rescue Sally.  Of course this forces Aidan and Josh to reveal their true monster selves to her and the fact that she’s in mortal danger if they can’t get out.

Back in HSD, “Scott” the Reaper is getting her to leave the house and throws a big party.  Zoe gets in and tries to get Sally to understand this isn’t reality.  Aidan is super hungry and Josh wants to lock himself in the fridge so he doesn’t notice when Aidan starts feasting on Zoe’s arm.  Zoe notices though and tries harder for Sally to understand.  Josh gets Aidan off Zoe’s arm and gives him a good talking to about all that’s been happening since Aidan’s started feeding off of live humans again (like killing those two girls last week).  Aidan crumbles and knows he’s been terrible but doesn’t know what to do about it.  Josh offers himself up but Aidan refuses at first and then has trouble feeding off him because he tastes funny.  Quickly Aidan gets a little high from Josh’s blood but then starts choking violently. 

Sally starts remembering and Reaper tries his best to convince her to stay with him in HSD.  Thankfully she chooses to go back and the only way to do it is to go back down the stairs in the same fateful manner she went down them the last time.

She wakes and gets rid of Josh who then releases her from her salty jail.  Aidan’s still a mess but actually stops to talk to Sally for a minute before excusing himself to go to bed.  Sally thanks Zoe but she’s still REALLY pissed about Sally shredding Nick and has no interest in ever forgiving her. 

At the end dear Sally is alone again.  Naturally.  Wait!  Nope, Reaper is there with her.  Sally wants him gone but he’s a part of her now and isn’t going anywhere.  He’s quite happy to wait for her to slip again.  Poor Sally.

"When I Think About You I Shred Myself"

Sally is getting job tips from Reaper and is about to take out a kid but it turns out there's a ghost possessing him.  She can't really get it done so Reaper steps in to finish him off.  One of the ghosts Stevie was accused of shredding shows up in the kitchen to ask Sally if she's seen him around.  She's shocked that Stevie wasn't lying about only shredding the guy who attacked her.  Then she's pissed at the Reaper for lying to her.  Oooo!  Reaper's gonna get it.  Sally goes to Zoe "the Reincarnator" and her boyfriend Nick (Sally's ex) for some help on the Reaper situation.  They're too busy with the cute babies and talk of Real Housewives to give her any real assistance but do suggest she try the ghost group again to see if they can provide some help.  Sally shows up to group and Reaper is already there.  Not only is he there but he's dispatched of all the ghosts in the group.  Zoe is there and is perplexed and pissed and keeps yelling at Sally for killing everyone.  Huh?  I don't think Zoe sees him, which could possibly be explained away by his special circumstances.

Josh runs into Julia at the hospital and they set some ground rules for being around each other and not being all awkward about it.  She makes some crack about his rage problem and his "bark being worse than his bite" but who cares?!?! Jay Effing Baruchel shows up!!!  He's Stu and he was there on the fateful camping trip when Josh was attacked (and subsequently turned).  Stu thinks the werewolf consequence was better than what he got, which was dead.  Josh is happy, though hesitant at first, to see him.  They catch up and Stu warns Josh off of starting things back up with Julia.  Josh assures him there's nothing there but friendship.  I'm just so happy to see Jay on TV and realize I have crushes on the some geeky actors.  Josh, Julia and Stu, who has taken to following them around, are all in a sexual harassment seminar and giggling at terribly inopportune times.  After work the trio go to the local bar to shoot some pool.  Josh and Julia are getting along terribly well and Stu is still pushing his agenda until he decides that he'd rather push his way into Josh.  Ew!  Not like that.  Stu possesses Josh and woos Julia into bed.  Worst. Idea. Ever.  This is going to be all sorts of bad.  The next morning Josh wakes up and is stunned that he's in bed with Julia and quickly figures out what Stu did to get him there.  WORST! IDEA! EVER!  Josh is yelling up a storm until Stu admits that he's been in love with Julia since high school.  Stu does a 180 from his previous advice and encourages Josh to try and make things work with Julia.  Too bad Josh is convinced that life with him could only end up destroying Julia.  Josh and Julia talk a bit and he's way too hesitant to get into a relationship with her again whereas she seems quite comfortable in his arms.  They make out as a sullen Stu watches from another room and then leaves.  Poor Stu.


Aidan brings Henry to the house and Josh must invite him in.  I keep forgetting Josh is the only living being there.  Huh.  Anywhoodle, Henry is currently all muscle and not in a sexy or fit kind of way. They get to reminiscing and we get some handy WWI flashbacks of when they were soldiers.  Aidan's been shot and Henry's the medic on duty.  This is how they meet and I'm guessing this is Henry's vampire history as well.  Back in present time, Aidan's brought home a couple of girls to speed up Henry's healing time.  I guess Aidan is tired of looking at a skinless Henry.  Aidan compels the girls to not only go inside the house but to see Henry as the most beautiful man they've ever seen.  We flashback again and a French soldier/patient sees Aidan sucking on some bloody surgery towels.  Ew.  Frenchie goes off to Henry about how they're all going to die because Aidan is a vampire, er, vaaahhhmpeeer.  Henry ignores Frenchie but is intrigued by the undead Aidan.  Back in present day, the two compelled girls get into bed with Henry and get all bloodied up too.  Ew.  The compulsion wears off and the girls realize where they are and who they're with.  They start screaming bloody murder and Aidan has to put them out of their misery by snapping their necks.  Henry jumps out of bed, grabs one of the recently dead girls and actually says, "5-second rule!"  We flashback again to see Frenchie go after Aidan with a stake but Henry jumps in the way and takes the stake for him.  Aidan dispatches of the hospital staff and patients.  Aidan removes the stake from Henry's belly and promised him eternal life, sorta.  Henry wakes up in a field with Aidan hovering just above and live but bound person next to him.  It's a gift for the beginning of Henry's new life.  In present day, a cleaning truck is removing the two girls from the house and Josh wanders up to meet Henry who has healed in a shocking amount of time.  Josh figures out how this has occurred and flips out on Aidan.

This bring us to the end where Nick has stopped by to talk to Sally about her imaginary Reaper that no one else seems to see.  He's trying to help her but he doesn't see Reaper walking up behind him.  Nick starts to get shredded when Josh and Aidan come in and try to get SALLY to stop shredding Nick.  Say what?!?  Turns out Sally has been doing all the shredding herself and Nick is her most recent victim (poor Zoe).  Sally's been around too long and it's been doing something to her.  In fact she breaks it to Josh and Aidan that Sally's not here anymore.  They finally trap her on the stairs with a salt outline and are unsure what to do next.  Tune in next week for...Sally's big freak out!  Yay!

Being Human “I’ve Got You Under Your Skin”

 

 

I’m gonna start with Sally because no one else seems to care.  Ok, Aidan kinda does but he’s busy with all his vamp politics.  She’s stressing out and the Reaper drops by to give her an alternative to being reaped…become a reaper herself.  Huh.  She catches Aidan up on her situation but he’s doubtful.  In fact he’s doubtful that there is even something like a reaper roaming around.  A vampire is suspicious of something supernatural.  Ok.  Neither of them is sure Sally could handle the job so Aidan suggests she take out the Reaper to test her mettle.  In order to know how to properly shred a ghost Sally goes to Stevie who has had experience with ghost shredding (if you remember he took out the one that was forcing himself on Sally).  Stevie warns her that shredding makes a ghost dark and she shouldn’t go there.  Back at the house the Reaper drops in again and Sally gives the shredding thing the old college try.  It works and then doesn’t and Reaper isn’t fazed but instead is impressed she tried it.  So she decides that maybe this reaping thing is a good career choice after all.  Too bad Reaper wants Stevie to be her first job.  Turns out Stevie’s been shredding all over town.  Sally is convinced she can just talk to him but Reaper has a job to do so he takes Stevie out.  Awwww.

Josh’s sister, Emily, is in town to help cheer him up post-Nora break up.  YAY!! We love Emily and plus she’s required to love him so she’s a good person to have around.  Josh shows up early for drink with Emily but her first date of the night, Julia (Josh’s ex) hasn’t left yet.  All three decide to drink together and things mostly go well (until they have to leave because Emily licked some girl whose boyfriend didn’t find the move adorable).  Josh and Julia even get to put a very drunk Emily to bed just like they did after Emily’s prom.  Awww.  Josh and Julia kind of click again and she admits that she returned to Boston in hopes of seeing him again.  Things seem positive until she brings up his leaving her all those years ago.  He admits to her that the attack on him changed him (way to beat around the bush, Josh) and then kind of flips out on her while explaining his anger issues.  I think she gets it now.

Oh, Aidan.  He and Suren are at a murder scene that was obviously done by an orphan (I guess exsanguination equals orphan).  They need to get to culling these orphans because Mother will be coming back to town to see how things are going.  Aidan goes looking for Henry, who has been fostering the orphans, to warn him about what’s coming.  If Henry sticks to Aidan’s plan, which consists of herding the orphans off to Baltimore where there are no vamp politics, they’ll be fine.  If they stay in Boston they’ll be killed for sure.  Meanwhile Suren by way of a human is buying the house they’re all standing in and is about ready to rescind their invitation in the house.  Aidan hurriedly gets himself and Henry out of there and locks the orphans in to burn.  Henry wants to stay in Boston and I hope that means I get to see more of him for a while.  For him to stay he’ll have to face Suren and make amends for what happened in the past (his sleeping around causing her to get all hungry on the human population).  Suren’s suggestion of flaying him like her Mongol ancestors practiced is gross and painful sounding but he agrees to it.  Ew.  Finally at the end of the episode Aidan tries to talk to Sally but she’s too depressed about Stevie and her possible new job of reaping.  She disappears and he’s left to process his own crappy life.

Being Human "The Ties That Blind

Josh and Aidan’s worlds collided a lot this week.  Sally was left to her own devices, as per usual.  In fact, when I went to find official screencaps I couldn’t find any.  Apparently the show doesn’t care about Sally.  Anywhoodle…

Aidan and Other Amish Vampire are being chased through the woods by 4 wolves.  I wonder how they got in this situation.  Then we see Josh and Nora wake up naked and dirty in the grass.  I wonder how they got in this situation.  Then we get a “24 hours earlier” card and we’re at the house, which is being haunted by a ghost other than Sally.  The guys task her with finding out why the word WHORE was written on the bathroom mirror and the kitchen furniture was rearranged vertically.  Then they leave her.

Aidan’s side of things: Other Amish Vamp wants answers about what happened to Original Amish Vampire and who killed him, which was a leap but a correct one.  Aidan gets on Josh’s case for going to vamp cop Cecilia (about blaming and killing the twins on his own without Aidan’s intervening.  All this is going to reflect badly on Aidan and he’s not happy.  The twins are watching Aidan on his break and they’re really starting to creep me out.  They call him and have Cecilia as a hostage.  He can get her back if he meets them out in the woods.  That’ll go well.  Aidan wrangles “Other Amish Vampire” to go with him and dude thinks they’ll have complete control of the showdown with the purebreds. 

Josh’s side of things: Josh sees Nora in the hospital’s cafeteria and she reveals she’s been gone for 16 days.  He’s upset that she killed her ex (even though he may have done it if pushed slightly).  She’s kinda snippy with him but mostly because she didn’t know if he’d want to see her again.  Uh, didn’t all his phone messages from last week clue you in on that?  Anywhoodle, the twins visit Nora and tell her they knew about Josh’s plan to get rid of them via Vamp Cop Cecilia.  Later Josh and Nora get into a fight at the storage place and she leaves to shift with the twins at the shed in the woods. 

Aidan, Josh, Nora, and the twins are all at the shack with Other Amish Vamp and Cecilia out in the woods somewhere.  The twins are blaming Aidan for the blame that was put on them and want to hunt him and Cecilia for sport…like in the old days.  Fun.  Aidan takes off, finds Other Amish Vamp who, when he hears the news there are more than two wolves, takes off for home, leaving Aidan all alone in the woods.  He finds Cecilia and all four wolves find them.  Cecilia’s been badly beaten and would slow him down anyway so she gives him permission to leave her…to the wolves.  So that’s where the saying comes from.  Cut to the next morning when Nora Josh are waking up.  They have a conversation about how he wants to be normal/human and she’s thrilled to be a wolf and break things off.  The four wolves all join up again at the shack and Aidan totally shoots boy twin.  Whoa.  Girl twin is devastated and Nora consoles her.  Josh and Aidan leave, Aidan with boy twin’s wolfie body.  He gives the body to Other Amish vamp and tells him to do whatever he wants with it. 

And how about Sally?  Well she figures out that the ghost haunting her and the house is Danny who was killed in prison.  She went to Aidan who said he’d help but not until his shift was over (he even suggested she go watch a 90210 marathon with a girl who just had her appendix removed).  Danny materializes in his prison orange jumpsuit, they square off and just when it looks like he might get the best of her he’s vaporized by the creepy smoke guy.  Then creepy smoke guy, Reaper, materializes and he’s not bad looking.  Apparently Sally’s existence perplexes some people and he must remove her from the earth.  He gives her times to say her goodbyes to the Aidan and Josh but they really can’t be bothered, what with the night they had.  So Sally sits alone on the stairs and utters that she’s ready.  Heart. Breaking. 

Being Human “Mama Said There’d Be Decades Like This”

Aidan is a wee bit tortured and seems to be enjoying it.  He’s on the hunt for Henry and feeding on live humans.  A lot.  Apparently vamps can get blood drunk and we see this happen to Aidan.  He’s not an angry drunk so there’s that.  He does get a bit snarky when Josh needs his help, which wasn’t very nice.  Oh and he’s seeing Bishop, which is bad news since Aidan killed Bishop last season.  Huh.  Bishop is trying to give Aidan some tips on how to take over and get his life back on track.  We take some trips down memory lane and even get a flashback to 1918 and see soldier versions of Aidan and Henry.   Imaginary Bishop encourages Aidan to get rid of Henry once and for all but Aidan can’t kill his progeny.  Then Bishop leaves him with the warning that really the child kills the parent (as happened in their relationship).  Yeah, I’m guessing Henry won’t take the attack lightly.

Josh hasn’t heard from Nora in a while and is being kept out of the loop with whatever went down with her and the twins.  This is unfortunate when two police detectives drop by the hospital to question him about a) Nora’s whereabouts and b) what he knows about her ex-boyfriend’s murder.  As I mentioned, Josh goes to Aidan for help from the recently turned vamp cop, Cecilia, but it doesn’t go well.  Josh goes to Cecilia thinking Aidan would have mentioned the story to her first but he hadn’t.  He’s too busy having imaginary conversations with a dead vamp.  Cecilia isn’t interested in helping Josh either until he mentions delivering the purebred twins in exchange for making the case against Nora go away.  She agrees and even compels the detectives to leave Josh and Nora alone.  Josh delivers on his promise and even gives Cecilia the dead Amish vamp’s shotgun and silver bullets to sweeten the deal.  I wonder if Nora will forgive him for this since she seems to feel right at home with the twins.

Sally gets the bad news that her mom is in the hospital and her prognosis isn’t great.  Her mom dies and immediately wants to go out on the town instead of checking on how her dad is handling it.  At her funeral she’s even off making out with their old neighbor which totally creeps Sally out.  Sally had hoped they’d have some quality mother/daughter time but her mom’s too busy getting busy.  Turns out Sally’s mom had an affair with him and has had to quietly mourn his death for the past 10 years.  Sally invites her mom to dinner to meet the roommates and of course she brings her ghostie boyfriend.  It’s not great, especially the part where Sally yells at her mom for cheating on her perfectly nice and loving father.

Being Human "Addicted to Love"

"At the end of the day, all any of us wants is to feel good."  Aidan's got a belly full of blood and a bed full of Suren.  He feels good.  Maybe a wee bit guilty but mostly good.

Speaking of beds, Sally is in one with the cute doc from last week.  Sure she's inhabited his girlfriend, Janet's, body but she's feeling good and that's all that matters, right?  I wonder what Janet has to say about playing host to Sally's whims.  Sally leaves Janet's body and looks AWFUL.  To wit:

The wolf pack discusses the next step in Josh's research.They want to do some testing on Nora but she's not into it.  Can you blame her?  She's a doctor, she knows what medical testing looks like.

Aidan wants to get to work in Boston but Suren's feelin' good about feeding and staying in bed.  He and Josh confront Sally about her addiction to possession but she can't stop.  She doesn't want to.  I guess the sex with cute doc is just that good.  BTW, he's noticing that his girlfriend has been a bit different lately.  Oops.  Oh and now Sally can't get out of Janet.  Double oops.

We flashback to 1930 and Henry's getting it on with someone other than Suren.  He's easily distracted.  Aidan warns him about hurting Suren but Henry's having way too much fun with random chicks.  Present day Aidan is nekkid and in bed with Suren when Mother drops in to give them a piece of her mind.  Luckily she waited for them to dress and come out to find her.  The still (kind of) alive orphans are wreaking havoc and they need to stop fooling around and cull the herd already.

Sally's at the hospital and freaking out about being stuck inside Janet but pauses to comment on Josh's extreme lack of arm hair.  Heh.  The smokey creep shows up and knocks Sally right out of Janet's body but both look like they took a punch.

Nora's ex pops up at the hospital to apologize for his past misdeeds.  He's changed, he isn't a violent dude, yada, yada.  He gets introduced to Josh who then flips out that she tolerates her ex's presence.  The wolfie twins try to goad Josh into taking action and avenging Nora.  That's so not Josh's style but he succumbs and flips out on the guy.  Luckily for him Nora is there in time to stop him from killing the guy.  Wait, why was she there?

Sally's sex host, Janet, shows up at the house because she's "seen" it before.  Plus she senses something is coming for her.  Sally surmises that she may have left a part of her, her memories, etc. behind when she was so rudely forced out of Janet.  I bet she's right.  Sally visits her to try and apologize to a human who can't hear her but is distracted by Janet's creepy drawings of Reaper (creepy, smoke dude).  Janet's lost a bit of her mind and recovered a bit of Sally's in the process.  That can't be good. 

Suren gets Aidan to help her cull the orphan population and luckily for them Aidan thinks he knows where they might be.  We flashback to find Suren being pushed by her mom and cheated on by Henry who tries to explain his way out of a tryst.  Aidan dispatches with Henry but doesn't kill him.  Suren does go after the chick he was banging and thusly exposes the vampire population of Boston.  Well it's time to lock the doors and turn up the music.  There's gonna be a buffet!  This was why Suren was put to ground almost 100 years ago and she apparently didn't learn much while she was down there.

The girl wolfie twin gets Nora to admit she had been watching the ex every night.  All the while she was fighting to keep the wolf at bay, so to speak, and not kill him.  Soooo that's why she was there when Josh almost killed him.  Meanwhile there's a wolf, or two, or three stalking the ex at his place of business and I'm guessing he's not long for this world.  In fact hey rip him to shreds.  Josh wakes up all alone in the storage unit and looks around like a lost little puppy.  Nora wakes up in an incest sandwich and a large smile on her face.  Ok, not really incest but they are all naked and two of the three people are siblings.  Anywhoodle, Nora has embraced the wolf and I wonder if Josh will ever get her back after this.

Suren and Aidan find the nest but no orphans.  They split up and Aidan happens upon Henry, looking pretty spiffy.  Aidan's way happier to see him than Henry is to see Aidan.  Suren pops back in and Aidan keeps Henry a secret.  For now.

Being Human, season 2

"I Loathe You for Sentimental Reasons"

Did you know who you are doesn't go away?  No matter how hard you try to change.  This is an argument I've been making lately and the show confirmed it for me.  I love validation, especially when it comes from a favorite television show.  I think I need to get out more.

Anywhoodle, Aidan tries to hit up his blood supply from last week but she's just about tapped out.  She promises to get him someone else.  He spends part of the episode flashing back to the early part of the century.  Back when he had to clean up for Suren a lot.  Back when he rocked a pencil-thin porn-stache.  He and Suren bickered a lot and it feels an awful lot like foreplay.  In current times, she's brought home a skeezy, bald dude who want to be "made."  In exchange for becoming a vamp he can offer things like fresh donors, politicians, and more.  He even offers to help with the orphan vamp situation they still haven't cleaned up yet.  Suren is on board immediately.  Aidan wishes to be more careful this time around.  Speaking of...we flashback again and meet a lovely chap named Henry.  He's got stars in his eyes but is it for power or Suren or both?  Back in the present, Aidan is still really hurting for a hit but won't stoop to feeding from a little girl (she was the other lady's idea. Ew.)  Flashback again and he's in Suren's room, zipping up her dress.  My favorite piece from Lakme is playing (you know the one...it's a duet that they use in car commercials, airline commercials, other commercials...) in the background and I forget to pay attention to what they're saying.  Back in the present again and Aidan agrees to turn the bald dude.  I guess he's really hungry.  One last flashback and Suren is in bed with Henry.  He gloats about getting the girl to Aidan who tries to stake him but Suren stops him.  Back in the present (last time) and Aidan is going to town on the dude's neck.  Suren joins in and the next thing you know, they're all bloodied up and making out/doing it:

Sally is still pushing Zoe the reincarnation nurse for a shot at jumping into a newborn.  Zoe would rather she join a ghostie support group.  A cute doc stops by to talk to Zoe but she gets all shy and tongue twisted.  In order to keep herself occupied, Sally decides to play matchmaker and help Zoe get the cute doc.  At ghostie group Sally runs into her old friend, Nick.  They hit it off but he had this one flaw...he kept reliving his death over and over and over.  After group Nick thanks Sally and says he's all better thanks to her.  Sally thinks maybe she should give him another shot until she finds out that he and Zoe are kind of dating.  Uh, how does that work?  Nevermind, I don't want to know.  Even worse she finds out that because of Zoe he's stopped the daily death do-overs (say that 3 times fast).  Sally wonders why he couldn't achieve that when they were together and I do too.  To soften her hurt she jumps into cute doc's girlfriend so she can make out with him.


In Josh land, he's met and helped out a pair of rich, wolf twins. Turns out they're purebreds and were not turned like he was.  Huh.  The wolf twins (who have ridiculous rich person first names that I didn't bother writing down) take Josh to a club in order to thank him properly for his help at the hospital (he sneaked male wolf out before the full moon).  At the club the male proves his uber-hip status by snorting something in full view of the entire club.  Josh, being raised to JUST. SAY. NO. goes to excuse himself but female wolf tells him it's just a little wolfie Xanax...you know, wolfsbane.  The wolfsbane keeps the wolfie tendencies at bay so they can be a bit more normal (me thinks this is a clue to Josh's research).  Speaking of the research, Josh gets their attention with mention of it and they want to see what he's got going on.  He takes them to the storage unit (BTW, Nora is nowhere to be found in this ep) but soon finds out they want the exact opposite.  Since they're purebreds they want to be wolfie all the time.  Being human (get it?) is the unnatural part of their existence.  They offer to throw money at Josh and his research and he reluctantly agrees. While leaving a message for Nora about the wolfie wonder twins we hear him saying they seem kinda cool but the camera cuts to them, in human form, tearing up what probably used to be a deer.  Ew.

"All Out of Blood" and so lost without you...

We open with Josh giving Nora and Sally a tour of the storage lockers he's rented for safe shifting.  He'd also like to record them to use for his research on fixing the wolfie problem they have.  Nora's a little creeped out by it but Josh is trying to stay positive.  Sally agrees to lock them in because she's got nothing else going on.  While there she does spot her creepy, black smoke lingering.  I wonder if it makes a clanking noise and turns into the form of a dearly departed loved one.  Wait, that's another show.

Aidan wakes up next to a (thankfully) live 'chick from the hospital/bar' and I realize she probably has a name that I managed to miss.  She got the residency job at the hospital so now they'll get to see each other every day at work and make swoony eyes when they pass in the halls.  I'm sure if they break up it won't be awkward at all.  They get amorous but in order for Aidan to not bite her he must get a quickie blood fix.

The roomies catch up at the hospital and Aidan spills about his new lady-friend.  A nurse with second sight spots Sally looking at the babies in the natal unit and tells her to get in line with the others. Uh, what others?  And why is there a line of ghosties watching babies?  The ghosts tell Sally that the nurse, Zoe, is able to assist in reincarnating ghosts into babies so they can live again.  It's best to stay on Zoe's good side so she can give you another shot at life.  In another part of the hospital Aidan is trying unsuccessfully to replenish his blood supply from the blood bank.  Turns out the higher ups have noticed missing blood from their stores and have limited access.  Oops!  That can't be good. 

At the house Aidan and his lady-friend (I should really look her up) are getting frisky again but he needs a blood hit so as not to nibble on her neck.  He runs into Josh who gives him a dorky thumbs up and heads off to his own room where Nora is waiting.  Her sense of smell is on high alert and after a quick lesson in small they too get frisky.

The next morning everyone is congregating in the kitchen and Sally informs them she is considering the reincarnation thing.  They laugh it off and the subject quickly changes when Aidan's lady-friend joins in.  Her name is Julia as in Josh's ex-fiance, Julia.  Whoa.  Understandably she rushes off and Josh chases after her to apologize and explain as best he can.  He ditched her lo those many years ago but for good reason (to protect her from his wolfie ways) but he can't really tell her why.  This isn't good enough for her.

At the hospital Sally watches Zoe host a reincarnation and then talks to her about the situation.  Sally explains she missed her door because she was helping her roommates.  Zoe is intrigued about these roommates who can see dead people too so she interviews them about Sally's candidacy for reincarnation.  Who knew it'd be so political?  Before the interview Aidan and Josh try to patch things up about Julia.  Josh feels protective of her still and is unsure Aidan could really control himself around her.  Apparently it's a moot point because Aidan doesn't want to pursue anything now that he knows she's Josh's ex.  Sally interrupts with a funny Dawson's Creek reference and says that Zoe is on her way.  After the interview Zoe rushes out and says she can't help Sally due to her (assumed) residual anger from being murdered and all.  Sally tells her she's trying to get away from the smoke monster (not that one, this other one).  Uh, that's not how you sell it, Sally.  Zoe and I are on the same page about the creepy smoke monster then haunting whatever baby she'd be in.  Not a great plan.  Later she protects the baby from the smoke monster and Zoe agrees to try and help her get rid of it.

Meanwhile Nora and Julia talk at the hospital.  It doesn't go terribly well.  Julia still thinks Josh is a selfish jerk and Nora tries to stick up for him without spilling the real reason he left her.  Nora realizes she doesn't want to be locked up and would rather be free in the woods.  Josh tries to use the 'you're a killer argument' but it doesn't work because she remembers what happened in the woods that night.  She's also pissed that Josh protected Julia from himself and his wolfie issues but didn't care enough about her to do the same.  Now's he condemned her to this sucky life.  She's got a point.  Meanwhile Julie still thinks she and Aidan have a future but he shoots her down.  As he walks away he's visibly upset but knows he's doing the right thing.  He goes to get a fix from a willing (and charging) donor.  Live blood makes him a totally different guy and that's not good.

Nora shows up at the storage place realizing she's a danger after she had followed Julia home, likely with the intention of scratching her too.  She should know what she's been missing with Josh, right?  She changed her mind and almost got hit by a car in the process.  Poor thing.  No wonder Josh wants to find a cure for her.  He does feel terribly guilty about it.

Last Night's Being Human

"Do You Really Want to Hurt Me?"

We pick up where we left off last week...Josh shifting into wolf form and getting shot at by the Amish vampire (on orders from Mother).  Nora, now in full wolf form herself, jumps to his rescue and takes the Amish vamp down.  Sally has awakened from her dream and is levitating.  She's freaked and there's no one home to talk to.  Aidan carries Mother's daughter, Suren, into a room and then proceeds to bring her a buffet of victims on which to feed.  She needs her strength after being buried for so long.  She looks a lot better and we find out she and Aidan have some history.  Oooh.

Josh awakens and finds Nora's car torn to shreds.  In another part of town Nora awakens naked and bloody in a pile of raked leaves.  Fun. Josh walks to his house to find Nora on the front steps.  She finally shows him the scratches on her arm and he realizes he's turned her.  She looks awful but the good news is she can see Sally now.  Speaking of Sally, she's brought home Stevie (the high school suicide kid from last week) and a couple of other teen ghost guys to keep her company.  One of them is called Boner.  Really.  Before Josh can tend to Nora Sally is filling him in on her creepy door dream.  Aidan comes home and Sally blurts out Josh and Nora's news.  He processes and then inquires about the friendly ghosts in the kitchen who are currently punching each other in the balls.  Boys.  Sally tends to the teen ghosts while Josh tells Aidan about the dead, Amish vamp.  Josh is glad Nora won't be able to remember killing someone on her first night but Aidan is thinking about the mess he'll have to face.

Nora comes back downstairs all cleaned up but leaves immediately.  I guess she has a lot on her mind being a new werewolf and all.  Sally is stuck with the teen ghost trio and needs a suggestion as to how to keep them entertained.  Aidan suggests Scarface.  That works and Aidan is off to catch up with Suren (where do they get names like this?).  He wants to get down to business, like rounding up some vamp cops to do clean up, but she's asking lots of questions that get him off track.  We even see a flashback of the two of them in the hotel back in its swinging vamp days.  Well some were vamps and others were massacred. 

Nora and Josh are at the hospital and she's having a bit of an identity crisis.  She wondering how much of the dog is in her.  Can she even have chocolate or will a mocha kill her?  Josh gets her to calm down a bit and asks what she remembers from last night.  She says nothing and he says it's a blessing.  I'd have to agree with him.  Oh and there's some med school new student mixer thing that he thinks will help them both feel a little more normal.

Aidan is at the hospital and meets a new girl that I have a feeling will come back around again.  She's there to interview and they have a little chemistry.  Too bad Aidan is at Suren's beck and call and has to rush off.  Suren's brought home a lovely cop...who isn't already a vampire.  Suren wants Aidan to turn her but he hasn't done that in a very long time and doesn't think he'll be able to control himself.  Plus wouldn't it just be easier to round up some cops who are already vamps?  Aidan's already having trouble keeping her in line and I'm sure it'll just get worse.  She uses the missing Amish vamp (he does have a name but it's weird and I'm bound to misspell it).

Sally and the teen ghosts are at a club and they show her how to jump into ("take") someone.  Stevie's not into it and warns Sally it can become addicting.  He does tell her that drunk people are easier to take because their resistance is lower.  Sally gives it a couple of unsuccessful tries but then lands in a girl and has way too much fun with it.

Back at the creepy hotel, Aidan is making out with cop lady and the fangs come out.  He's able to stop himself and doesn't bite her.  Suren is disappointed with him and turns the cop anyway.  Aidan tells Suren that he hasn't done that to anyone since the night things went very wrong at the hotel.  She appreciates this and even covers for him when someone comes looking for the Amish vamp.

Sally is getting a kick out of drinking and eating and one of the teen vamps, who has taken a random club guy, gets the wrong idea.  He's all over her in a matter of seconds but Stevie comes to her rescue.  They reach into each other and this glowy stuff happens until teen vamp is no longer.  Apparently ghosts can do this to each other.

We end with Josh saying he'd rather find a cure than go to med school.  Nora doesn't want to be the reason he doesn't go to med school but then she also doesn't want them to be together just because they're both monsters.  She's on the couch chatting with Sally and flashes back to killing the Amish vamp.  Uh oh.  Apparently girl wolves remember everything...birthdays, anniversaries, and their first kill.  Aidan runs into the chick from the hospital at a bar.  They're totally into each other and she invites him to go home with her.  Aidan's got a girlfriend.  Hope he doesn't kill this one!

Being Human, season 2

I thought my friend Dana and I were the only ones watching the US/Canadian Being Human but it turns out Tracy likes it too.  Great minds!  It's on Syfy and the second season just started up last night at 9pm.  Yes, it's science fiction but mostly it's a show about 3 roommates trying to achieve normalcy as best as possible.  You see, the roommates are a vampire, a werewolf and a ghost.  I guess there are no witches looking on Craigslist for roommies in Boston.

The vampire is Aidan and he's been around for a while.  In fact he was made into a vampire during the Revolutionary War.  Aidan's been trying to live as normal a life as he can in Boston where he works as a nurse.  He tried not drinking human blood for a while but had a nasty relapse early last season.  His mess got cleaned up by Bishop, head of the Boston vamp clan.  Vampire politics being what they are, Aidan and Bishop has some issues throughout the season and Aidan ended up killing him and inheriting not only the Boston clan but Bishop's group of recently turned orphans.  Aidan's now the temporary leader of the Boston clan and trying to figure out how to get back to his semi-normal existence from before. 

Sally is our resident ghost and she has a heck of a story.  She was engaged to Danny and though they had some bumps, were pretty happy.  It's too bad that one of those bumps, Danny's anger, led to Sally's death.  They argued at the top of the stairs and Sally got pushed.  By the time Sally reached the bottom step she had died.  Unable to move on, Sally made use of her time by haunting the house, haunting Danny, and getting to know other local ghosts.  By the end of the season her door to the beyond appeared but she didn't make it through.

Then there's the werewolf, Josh. A bit more prone to isolation, Josh spent last season finding out how to best control his 'time of the month' and falling in love with nurse Nora.  Oh yeah, Josh is an orderly at the hospital where Aidan works but has dreams of going to medical school.  He's a little nerdy, a little goofy but terribly sweet and just wants to protect those around him, especially from himself.  He and Nora finally get together (that was a doozy!) and she even ends up pregnant.  He transformed in front of Nora so now she knows what he is and it doesn't change her feelings for him.  It's too bad that Josh scratched her and now it looks like Nora might be in for the biggest change of her life.


So now you're caught up!  Let's get on with Season 2!

"Turn This Mother Out"

Aidan tries helping one of Bishop's orphaned vamps by giving him a bag of blood in order to keep him from feasting on any of Boston's human population.  The guy is terribly whiney about a) having to drink someone's blood donation and b) that being a vampire isn't all he thought it would be.  He left his wife and kids for something more than being hungry all the time and only getting bagged blood.  Plus the newbie asks Aidan about who "she" is because he keeps hearing that "she is coming."  Aidan seems to know what he's talking about and is hopeful that "she" will have some answers for him.  That "she" is Mother (pictured) and she is indeed coming to Boston but then the rumors change to her plans of culling the Boston clan.  This isn't any less settling news for Bishop's orphans but Aidan still seems hopeful that things will work out all right.

Josh's 'time of the month' is here and Nora is asking tons of questions about what it's like to be a werewolf, how does it feel, what does shifting feel like, etc.  Josh would rather protect her from that part of him but she's desperate to know all she can.  It's too bad she doesn't feel like she can tell him what's really going on with her...she's not sure if she'll be shifting too.

Sally's high school reunion is today and Aidan, Josh and Nora think she should go.  It's rare that you get to be there and not be seen.  Plus she gets to be the one who died too young, too early and while still beautiful.  This does the trick so Sally decides to go.  While there she runs into Stevie who killed himself their junior year.  He's been hanging around the school since then and even has the 411 on their class's most recent loss...the prom queen.  Stevie also tells Sally that she can not only sleep but dream and the dreams are pretty darn vivid.  Cool.  Sally gives the prom queen a good talking to, prom queen learns her life lesson and her door pops up.  Off she goes and poor Sally is still stuck on the earth.

Aidan's at some creepy hotel for his meeting with Mother.  She doesn't give him Boston and decides her daughter would be the best candidate to take over with Aidan as her second.  If he cooperates he'll get what he wants, true freedom from the vamps and their politics.  Also, she does want to cull the clan and get rid of the orphans.  They get wind of this and show up later to complain with their pointy stakes.  Mother watches as Aidan dispatches them and is quite pleased.  She'll be even more pleased when "the wolf" is removed and no longer a distraction for Aidan.  Oh she best not mean Josh!

Back at Syfy Manor Sally takes a nap and has a dream where her door appears but there's a creepy figure off in the distance that gets closer and closer and eventually comes through the door.  Sally awakens freaked out not only by the dream but the fact that she's been levitating too.

Each episode should have Aidan digging something up, wife beater optional.

Aidan is digging something up in the forest and at the same time Josh and Nora have arrived so he can wolf out.  He departs her car and she sits in there thinking for a while.  Soon enough Josh is shifting and so is Nora...much to her dismay.  She opens her door and let's out a scream, which Josh hears.  He starts heading her direction but is slowed down by a silver bullet from the Amish vamp guy that Mother sent.  So she did mean Josh.  Mother effer!
