Today in Pop Culture History: Festivus for the rest of us!

MAJOR Upper:
23 December 1966-perpetuity: In an attempt to escape the religious and commercial pressures of the holiday season, pater familias Frank Costanza deemed this day "Festivus." Here's a quick primer:

The feats of strength! The unadorned aluminum pole! And my personal holiday favorite: the airing of grievances, where you spend Festivus dinner explaining to all your friends and family exactly how they've disappointed you in the previous year.

Don't you find tinsel distracting?

May your holiday be filled with Festivus miracles! And if you haven't gotten a chance to finish your shopping yet, please consider a contribution to The Human Fund.
