Today in Pop Culture History

21 December 1937: Walt Disney Studios premiered Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. As the first full-length animated film, it paved the way for Pixar, and for that alone we should be grateful. But have you seen Snow White lately? Take a look at/listen to this classic scene:

Did you remember her voice being quite that grating? My cat just ran from the room. In any case, Snow White (more specifically, the Disney-fied version of the German fairy tale which leaves out the cannibalism and necrophilia) has maintained its pop culture pervasiveness, particularly lately. The ABC hit Once Upon a Time features an amnesiac Snow as a major character,

You  know it's her because of the bird, see?

 and next year will see two dueling updates of the story, one that looks pretty good, despite my friend's excellent point that in no world is K-Stew nearly as beautiful as Charlize Theron (play magic mirror and judge for yourself);

and one that looks like it could be a big old mess.

Not least because this happens.
