According to io9, the writing team who brought us
Thor and
X-Men: First Class, two films I hearted, are at work adapting
Lev Grossman's 2009 novel The Magicians into a pilot for Fox. My angst level is at about a 5. I trust the writers, but Grossman's novel, rather annoyingly hailed as
Harry Potter for adults (as if HP weren't), is complicated, dark, and just a touch cynical. Basically everything
Terra Nova, Fox's latest offering to the geek crowd, so far isn't. If nothing else, consider this an imperative to read Grossman's novel, along with its sequel,
The Magician King. At least then we'll all be stressing out together.
